Mangrove forest at the north-western tip of the island, facing Malaysia across the water. Walk the timber decks and rest in the hides, and you may see sandpipers probing the mud and a saltwater crocodile idling at the water line. The crocodile is luck, not a promise. Getting here takes effort and half a day, but it is the closest this city gets to a wild day out.
