In the Mandai Wildlife Reserve in the north of the island

This zoo opens only after dark. A tram rolls slowly through forest lit by something like moonlight while rhinos, hyenas and Asian elephants move as silhouettes in the undergrowth beside you. Off the tram, four walking trails have you peering around for smaller night animals like fishing cats and pangolins. Seats for the 'Creatures of the Night' show are booked separately from admission, so the trick is planning entry time, tram and show in advance.
