Dozens of doorways line up on one east–west axis, so from the middle you see frames shrinking into the distance like mirrors facing mirrors. Jayavarman VII built it in honour of his father, and it worked as a sort of monastic university full of monks and students. Trees push through the roofs, one hall is banded with dancing apsaras, and a rare two-storey building on round columns stands off to one side. It has Ta Prohm's overgrown mood with far fewer people, which is why those who want a quiet walk rate it so highly.
