Two or three hours north of the lagoon by bus, grey rock towers start rising straight out of green meadows. Cortina d'Ampezzo, a mountain town that co-hosted the 2026 Winter Olympics, is the easiest piece of the Dolomites to reach on your own by bus. Seceda, with its tilted knife-edge ridge that fills photo feeds, is further away, so in a day you really need a tour or a car. It's a long day, out at dawn and back late, so only add it if your schedule has room.
