A big hostel round the corner behind Hotel Plaza, across from Mestre station. Backpacker reviews are everywhere, one titled simply 'better than most hotels'. Female-only six- and nine-bed dorms make it a favourite with women travelling solo, and there are double and twin private rooms for couples. Reviewers report about €100 for three nights in a six-bed dorm on August weekdays, and around €20 a night off-season. Santa Lucia on the island is about ten minutes by train.
