Duchess of Alba's home, courtyards scented with orange

Address
Calle Dueñas 5, near Santa Paula convent

The Alba family lived here for generations, and the late Duchess Cayetana was its last resident. The poet Antonio Machado was born in the palace and spent his childhood here. Moorish arches and Renaissance columns share the courtyards, and fountains murmur under orange trees. The rooms keep the family's furniture and photographs, so it feels more like a living room than a museum. It opened to the public in 2016.
