Step out of the old-town lanes and a waffle-like timber canopy suddenly floats over the square. It's one of the biggest wooden structures in the world, and everyone just calls it 'the mushrooms'. A lift takes you up to a walkway that rolls over the wavy roof, with the city spread all round as far as the Giralda. After dark the whole thing lights up for the 'Aurora' light-and-sound show, which is a good reason to go up a second time. Underneath, Roman and Moorish houses found during construction are on display where they were dug up.
