Kita 3-jo Nishi 8, Chuo Ward; about 10 minutes on foot from Sapporo Station

A garden opened in 1886 sits right beside the office towers. Follow the pond, the marsh and the alpine zone and the city drops away fast. Early-1900s wooden buildings still stand in the grounds, so it feels like pioneer-era Hokkaido. Crows are loud here, so do not be startled. In winter the grounds close and only the greenhouse stays open.
