A neo-baroque red-brick government hall from 1888, its octagonal roof dome visible from blocks away. After more than five years of restoration and new exhibits it reopened on 25 July 2025, and now works as a showcase for Hokkaido's history and travel. The ginkgo avenue and pond in the front garden turn gold around late October and photograph beautifully. It stays open to 9pm, so an evening visit works.
