Stand on Ebisubashi Bridge and the Glico running man, arms in the air, looks down at you from across the canal. The buildings on either side wear house-sized crabs, blowfish and takoyaki, and once the sun drops every sign switches on and the water lights up with them. The bridge is a permanent queue of people copying the Glico pose. The main sign strip can be shoulder to shoulder, but step one block into the side alleys and you can breathe again. It costs nothing and never closes, so just walk through on your way to dinner.
