Amid Dotonbori's neon, this udon house stands quiet behind a willow and a wooden lattice front. Founded in 1946, it lives on a clear broth of Hokkaido kombu with mackerel and urume bonito flakes from Kyushu. Kitsune udon, topped with a big sheet of sweet simmered tofu, is ¥930. People talk about the broth before the noodles.
