Push through the 42nd Street doors into the Main Concourse and above you is a teal vault painted with gold constellations, famously drawn back to front. The four-faced clock on the information booth is where New Yorkers say 'meet me'. Commuter trains still run in and out all day, so at rush hour people sprint across the hall. Downstairs outside the Oyster Bar, in the arched Whispering Gallery, whisper into one corner and a friend in the opposite corner hears every word.
