Two white marble spires stand on Fifth Avenue facing Rockefeller Center. Push through the doors and the street noise drops a layer; rows of votive candles flicker beneath the stained glass. Entry is free and you can wander as long as you stay out of the way of Mass. It is a five-minute breather from the shopping crowds, and in winter you pair it with the tree across the street.
