Lotte's New York hotel sits on Madison Avenue directly across from St. Patrick's Cathedral. The 1880s Villard Houses wrap a courtyard at the front with a high-rise tower behind, and you book either the older 'Palace' rooms or the newer 'Tower' rooms. Rockefeller Center and Fifth Avenue shopping are a few minutes' walk, which keeps a first trip to New York compact. In December a huge Christmas tree goes up in the courtyard and plenty of non-guests come for photos.
