A glass-and-white-wall museum on 53rd Street. Everyone takes the lift straight to the fifth floor, because that's where Van Gogh's The Starry Night, Monet's Water Lilies, Picasso's Les Demoiselles d'Avignon and Dalí's The Persistence of Memory all hang. The Starry Night is always several phones deep, but the museum is far smaller than the Met, so half a day gets you round the big names. The Design Store across the street is the usual stop for gifts.
