A narrow façade squeezed between shops on Sendlinger Straße, easy to walk past

Between ordinary shop fronts on Sendlinger Straße, a dark rock-like façade pushes up out of nowhere. The Asam brothers, the great Baroque masters, built it on their own plot next to their house and with their own money, so inside, a space only a few paces wide is crammed with gilding, stucco and ceiling paintings. There is hardly room for your eyes. It is not a place to linger, but ten minutes is enough to be overwhelmed, and it sits an easy walk from Marienplatz.
