Locals don't use the name; they just call it 'the Schmalznudel'. Since 1973 it has fried this stretched yeast-dough ring, also called Auszogne in Bavarian, beside the Viktualienmarkt. The middle is thin and chewy, the rim thick and crisp. Coffee comes in cups printed in old German script, and some of the landscape paintings on the walls are by Ursula Frischhut herself.
