In the middle of Munich's best-known market, under the blue-and-white maypole, sits a beer garden of about 1,000 seats. The big Munich breweries take turns supplying it, so the mugs are unbranded and a sign over the bar tells you whose beer is on. Plenty of people assemble a picnic from the market's cheese, sausage and bread stalls. The perfect place to rest your legs mid-browse.
