A ribboned maypole stands in the middle, ringed by a hundred-odd green-roofed stalls. Wheels of cheese, heaps of wild mushrooms, honey, fish rolls and flowers all share the same lanes. In the centre there's a beer garden under chestnut trees where you're allowed to bring food bought at the stalls, so a sausage and a pretzel turns straight into lunch. Thirty minutes of just looking goes by fast.
