Free gallery: water wall, then lie under a glass ceiling

At the entrance of this grey stone building, water sheets down a glass 'water wall' and kids press their palms against it to bend the flow. Inside, people lie flat on the floor of the Great Hall because the entire ceiling is stained glass and that's the best way to see it. The permanent collection, from European old masters to Asian ceramics and contemporary design, is free. Big touring shows are ticketed separately, so check what's on.
