West shore of Lotus Pond, at the end of the zigzag bridge

Two seven-storey pagodas, one yellow-striped and one red, stand at the end of a zigzag bridge over the lake. The rule is simple: walk in through the dragon's jaws and out through the tiger's to shed your bad luck. Inside, murals of heaven and hell line the walls, and the top floors look out over the water and the temple roofs around it. After a long restoration that began in 2023 the pagodas reopened in 2025, with night lighting added for the first time. The loop around the lake is about 3km, so the Spring and Autumn Pavilions and the Confucius Temple fit easily into the same walk.
