The walls and gates of the Fengshan County seat, built in 1722, still stand in the middle of the city. The north gate, Gongchen, has guardian figures on either side, and the east gate, Fengyi, is named for welcoming the phoenix. Follow the wall toward the water and you reach the Spring and Autumn Pavilions rising from the lake, with Guanyin riding a dragon at the entrance. Add the Dragon and Tiger Pagodas along the shore and the half-day is full.
