Hong Kong Tramways (Ding Ding)

香港電車

Double-deckers since 1904, crossing the island slowly

Address
Along the tram line on Des Voeux Road and the north shore of Hong Kong Island

The double-deckers get their nickname from the ding-ding of the bell, and they have rolled along the north shore of Hong Kong Island since 1904. Take a front seat upstairs and shop signs, market stalls and laundry lines slide past the window at arm's length. It is slow, but that is the point: you watch Central turn into Sheung Wan and Wan Chai street by street. The fare is cheap enough that you can hop on with no destination.
