Out of the station and the road is lined both sides with souvenir and snack shops. Fried fishcake skewers, steaming onsen buns, Hakone's inlaid woodcraft; graze your way along and lunch sorts itself out. Stand on the bridge over the Hayakawa and you've got rushing water and mountains right in front of you, the moment it feels like a hot-spring town. It's the start and end of the Hakone loop, so it's where people kill time before the Romancecar home.
