By day it's gold shops, herbal medicine stores and dried-goods sellers; after sunset stalls spill across both pavements and the red-and-yellow Chinese signs light up. Peppery rolled noodles, charcoal-grilled prawns, crispy oyster omelettes, bird's-nest soup, tofu pudding: the menu changes every few steps, so the fun is eating a little at three or four places rather than filling up at one. Song Wat Road next door mixes old shophouses with sharp little cafés and is better for a daytime wander.
