Up in the top-floor hall the Buddha is gold all the way through, close to three metres tall. The famous story is that it spent years sealed in plaster as an ordinary statue until a crack during a move revealed the gold. Exhibits downstairs tell it. It sits at the end of the Chinatown road, so it pairs easily with a wander through the Yaowarat lanes.
