- The rocky outcrop below the Acropolis west gate, reached by a metal staircase
A polished, worn marble outcrop right in front of the Acropolis gate. Ancient Athens' high court sat here, and it's known as the spot where the Apostle Paul preached to the Athenians; his sermon is set in a bronze plaque at the foot of the rock. Sit on top and you get the Acropolis walls to one side, the Ancient Agora and Monastiraki rooftops ahead and Lycabettus in the distance. It's free, so at sunset it fills with people sitting around with a can of beer.
