Address
Roman Agora: 3 Polygnotou St; Hadrian's Library: 3 Areos St, beside Monastiraki Square. Two minutes apart

Wander the Monastiraki souvenir lanes and a row of huge Corinthian columns appears behind a fence: the wall of the library Emperor Hadrian built in the 2nd century. A few steps on is the Roman Agora, where an eight-sided marble tower stands on its own. The Tower of the Winds worked as a sundial, water clock and weather vane, with a wind god carved on each face. Both are small, half an hour each is plenty, and you can see a fair bit through the railings for free.
