Step out of Monastiraki station and the grill smoke greets you first. They have been grilling minced-meat kebabs on this spot since the 1960s, part of the souvlaki strip with neighbours Bairaktaris and Savvas. The order is the kebab plate: minced lamb and beef pressed on skewers, laid on pita with grilled tomato and onion. From the outdoor tables you can catch a slice of the Acropolis overhead.
