Climb out of the metro and the Acropolis is right there, past a small Byzantine church and an old mosque. Ifestou Street runs west from the square, a daily market lane of army surplus, leather sandals and T-shirt stalls. The real flea market happens on Sunday mornings in Avissinias Square, where old records, brass candlesticks and someone's grandmother's dinner plates get laid out on blankets. The rooftop bars ringing the square are known for sunset views of the Acropolis.
