Renzo Piano's science museum rises out of the water like the bow of a ship, and its sloping roof is one big stepped square. Walk up the outside stairs and, for free, you get the old town's rooftops, the harbour and a replica tall ship below. There's a restaurant and bar at the top, and on sunny days the steps fill with people nursing coffees. With kids, add the museum downstairs and you've got half a day.
