- Address
- East end of Dongxin Street, Xincheng, just inside the Little East Gate of the wall
A snack lane just inside the city wall that gathers food from all over Shaanxi. It's smaller and calmer than the Muslim Quarter, and a good place to do your street food instead. The famous bit is shuaiwanjiu: knock back rice wine from a little clay bowl, then hurl the bowl at the ground to smash away the year's bad luck, and there's usually a queue for it. It's best at night under the red lanterns, and the decorations go up a notch around Chinese New Year.
