Walk into Pit 1 and the roof is the size of an aircraft hangar, with earth-coloured soldiers lined up row after row below you. Lean on the rail and the claim that no two faces match stops sounding like a brochure line: beards, topknots and mouths all differ. At the far end is the restoration zone, where armless figures wait their turn to be pieced back together. Pit 2 is where you see a kneeling archer behind glass at arm's length, and the bronze chariots have been in the Lishan Park hall since 2021.
