On Stephansplatz in the middle of the Old Town, where Kärntner Straße meets the Graben

Come up the station stairs and a soot-darkened Gothic spire shoots up overhead. The roof is laid in green and yellow tiles; the double-headed eagle on the south side shows from the square, and the North Tower puts you right above the patterns. The South Tower is 343 spiral steps with no lift, rewarded by Old Town rooftops through the windows; the North Tower has a lift up to the huge Pummerin bell and the mosaic roof. The front part of the nave is free to step into.
