The imperial court confectioner, on the Kohlmarkt since 1786. The shop windows change their sugar sculptures with the seasons, and inside, glass cases hold dozens of tortes. Demel's Sachertorte is the one that fought Hotel Sacher over who had the original, and comparing the two is a Vienna tradition. Its Kaiserschmarrn is famous enough to get its own takeaway counter.
