Tsetsee Gun summit (about 2,256 m) inside Bogd Khan Uul National Park, reached from trailheads on the city's southern edge

Tsetsee Gun is the highest point of Bogd Khan Uul, the long green wall south of Ulaanbaatar. The trail starts in forest, climbs through meadow-like ridges and ends on a rocky summit with the whole city spread across its valley. Count roughly five to six hours round trip. Trail marking is patchy, and after rain there is mud and the odd fallen tree. A local guide or tour makes sense for a first time.
