Niagara-on-the-Lake Wineries

Niagara-on-the-Lake (Queen Street / wineries)

Icewine tastings and a flower-lined old town

Hours
Varies by winery (usually morning to late afternoon; check)
Tickets
Town is free; tastings charged per winery (check locally)
Address
Old-town Queen Street, with wineries spread south of town and along the Niagara Parkway

Head north from the falls along the river and wineries appear one after another between the vines. The local speciality is icewine, pressed from frozen grapes; Inniskillin is credited with putting Canadian icewine on the world map. After a tasting, drive into town, where 19th-century buildings on Queen Street hold jam shops, fudge counters and an old apothecary museum, with flower beds everywhere. Most people tack it onto a Niagara Falls day.
