A wide tidal flat at Taichung's western edge where the river meets the sea. Walk to the end of the long wooden boardwalk and a row of white wind turbines stands off to one side while the shallow water mirrors the sky. At sunset the blades turn to black silhouettes and the flats go orange; down in the mud, crabs and mudskippers keep busy. It's a long way out and the wind is fierce, but a clear evening makes up for all of it.
