One of the key temples of Taiwan's Mazu faith, and the starting point of the annual spring pilgrimage when the deity's image is carried on foot for days. Incense smoke drifts across the courtyard as worshippers come and go. The ornate eaves and carvings reward slow looking. It is a half-day trip by train from the city.
