A low building pressed against the water at Campbell's Cove, right under the Harbour Bridge. Only the narrow channel of Circular Quay separates it from the Opera House, and guests rate it among the best Opera-view hotels in the city. It's a common one-night splurge on Sydney honeymoons; one couple emailed ahead to say so and found welcome wine and flowers waiting. The catch: the lowest rates on our seven dates ran AUD 1,640–2,000 a night, a different league from everything else on this list.
