Started in Hong Kong in 1998 and in Xintiandi since 2002, Yè Shanghai has left its old shikumen house in Xintiandi North Block for the third floor of Infinitus Mall, two streets away. Even inside the mall it wears a grey-brick front and red hanging signs, and the dining room has gold velvet sofas. The menu leans on Shanghai staples like red-braised pork and xiaolongbao, and during hairy-crab season the kitchen packs crab meat back into the shell. Many diners order the Peking duck, carved beside the table.
