A neighbourhood dumpling shop just off Shanyin Road, a short walk from Lu Xun Park. It opens at 4:30 a.m. and runs until 9 p.m.; in the early hours the tables fill with older locals working through a bowl of noodles and a basket of xiaolongbao. At around ¥27 a head it is a relief after downtown prices. The room holds only a few big tables, so you share with strangers. Shanghai-born singer Joker Xue (Xue Zhiqian) once recommended it, and people still mention that.
