Italica Roman City

Conjunto Arqueológico de Itálica

Hometown of Trajan and Hadrian, with an amphitheatre

Hours
Closed Mondays; seasonal hours on the official site
Address
On the north-west edge of Seville, at the entrance to Santiponce

This is the site of the town where the Roman emperors Trajan and Hadrian were born. The big draw is the amphitheatre, among the largest Roman ones left in Spain. Across the wide site you can still follow the street grid and walk past house foundations with mosaic floors. There is little shade, so skip summer afternoons. It makes an easy half-day from the city.
