Address
The Schafberg railway's lower station at the west end of St. Wolfgang

A small village on the north shore of Lake Wolfgang. The waterfront terrace of the White Horse Inn and the pilgrimage church are more or less the whole picture, and that's enough. The real draw is the SchafbergBahn, Austria's steepest cog railway, running since 1893 and climbing 1,190 m in 35 minutes. From the top you look down on the Wolfgangsee, Mondsee and Attersee spread between the mountains. Arrive by boat from St. Gilgen and you watch the village come towards you across the water.
