This is the square on the Salzburg postcards. At its centre the 1661 Residenz Fountain has four sea-horses snorting in the spray, with the white cathedral front rising behind. The 35-bell Glockenspiel on the Neue Residenz roof rings at 7, 11 and 18 hours, and plenty of people listen from a coffee on Mozartplatz. It is also the largest square in the city and the stage for its biggest events.
