- Birthplace: the yellow house at Getreidegasse 9, third floor. Residence: Makartplatz 8
Climb the stairs of the yellow house and you're in the flat the Mozart family rented for 26 years from 1747. The rooms are smaller than you'd expect and the floors creak. What you come for are the objects: the little violin he played as a child, his concert violin and a well-worn clavichord behind glass. The Residence across the river is the bigger flat the family moved to later, with his fortepiano and fuller audio commentary.
