Sugar King Park

Sugar King Park

Sugar baron statue and toy locomotive in Garapan

Address
Downtown Garapan park, across from the NMI Museum

The park is named for Matsue Haruji, the man who turned Saipan into a sugar island under Japanese rule. His statue stands on the lawn, with a small locomotive of the kind that hauled cane parked to one side. A peace bell sits in the grounds too. It is a short stop, best paired with the museum across the road for about an hour on foot.
