South of the airport runway, at the end of a dirt road, sits a beach that's usually empty. The sand is unusually white and fine, and once you're in, the coral and reef fish below are crisp and clear. A WWII concrete pillbox still squats at one end of the beach. There are none of the comforts of a resort beach, but for what's under the water it ranks near the top on Saipan.
