- The island's highest peak in the middle of Saipan, up a rough road from the Capitol Hill side
A 4WD bounces up a dusty forest track to the 474-metre summit, the highest point on Saipan. Turn a full circle and you see Garapan's hotels and Managaha to the west, the surf-lined Pacific to the east and Tinian far to the south. A Christ statue stands at the top with arms open to the sea. In 1944 this peak was one of the hardest-fought objectives of the battle.
