Pines and tomb ruins line a bumpy stone road with limited traffic, ideal for cycling. The round mausoleum of Cecilia Metella stands in the middle like a signpost. San Callisto is entered only on a guided tour through cool underground galleries of early Christian tombs, with no photography. Allow half a day on foot or by bike.
